Upright

Temperance is the art of the mix. It speaks of balance, moderation and patience — of blending things that seem opposed until they become something new. The angel is not standing still; the pouring is constant, careful work. When the card appears, the way through is the middle path, taken slowly and with purpose.

Reversed

Reversed, the balance is lost: excess in one direction, impatience, a life that has tipped too far toward work or pleasure or anyone else's needs. It can also mark a clash of elements that will not blend. Bring things back to the centre.

On the card

An angel with red wings stands with one foot on land and one in a pool, pouring water between two cups in an impossible stream. The sun glows on the angel's forehead, irises grow beside the water, and a path winds toward a bright crown on the horizon.

In love

Harmony, patience and a relationship where both of you adapt. Slow and healthy.

Imbalance — one giving too much, or feelings too hot or too cold. Find the middle again.

At work

Collaboration, steady progress, the long view. Do not rush the process.

Overwork, burnout, or a team pulling in different directions. Moderate.

As advice

Go slowly and keep pouring. Balance is a practice, not a state.

Where have you overdone it? Take that thing down a notch.
