XI · Major Arcana
Justice
Fairness, truth, cause and effect, accountability.
Upright
Justice is cause and effect. What you have done is coming back to you, fairly and in proportion — which is good news if you have acted well. The card speaks of truth, accountability, balanced judgement and legal matters. It asks for honesty, especially with yourself, and promises that the truth will hold.
Reversed
Reversed, the scales are tipped: unfairness, dishonesty, a refusal to take responsibility, or a verdict that does not feel just. It can also point to your own bias. Look at what you are not weighing.
On the card
A crowned figure sits between two pillars holding a sword upright in one hand and a set of scales in the other. A purple veil hangs behind, and one foot shows beneath the red robe. The face is calm and direct.
In love
Fairness and honesty between you. A relationship where both sides are held to account — and a decision about it.
One-sidedness, blame, or a truth being avoided. Say the thing.
At work
Contracts, decisions and reviews go your way if you have done the work. Be scrupulous.
An unfair outcome, or a corner you cut coming back. Own it.
As advice
Tell the truth and accept the consequences. They are lighter than the lie.
Where have you been unfair — to someone else, or to yourself?
Questions people ask about Justice
Is Justice a yes or no card?
Maybe. You will get the fair outcome, which is a yes only if you have acted fairly.
For a yes-or-no question, draw a single card: the one-card spread.
What kind of person is Justice?
A fair, rational, principled person: the lawyer, the referee, the friend who tells you the truth. They weigh things carefully and keep score honestly.
How does Justice feel about you?
They are clear-headed about you: weighing it fairly and wanting it to be balanced. Respect comes first; feeling follows if things are even.
What does Justice say about timing?
When the facts are in. Justice waits on the decision, the contract, the verdict; it resolves once the truth is on the table.
