Upright

The King of Wands is vision with the authority to see it through. He speaks of leadership, entrepreneurship, honour and the long-term drive that turns a big idea into a lasting one. He is bold but not impulsive; his fire is banked and directed. The card asks you to lead — or to find and back someone who can.

Reversed

Reversed, the king has become a tyrant or a dreamer. It marks impulsiveness, ruthlessness, overbearing leadership or grand ideas with nothing behind them. Vision needs humility and follow-through, or it is just a loud man on a chair.

On the card

A king sits on a throne carved with lions and salamanders, a wand held upright like a sceptre, a salamander at his feet. His crown is a ring of flames and he looks off to the side, toward what is next.

In love

A passionate, generous, decisive partner. A relationship led with warmth.

Domineering, self-centred, or all promises. Look at what is actually delivered.

At work

A visionary leader, a business built to last, a role that asks you to take charge.

Arrogance, unrealistic ambition, or a boss who cannot listen. Ground the vision.

As advice

Lead from the front. Your conviction gives others permission.

Check that the vision is serving people and not just your image of yourself.
