Upright

The Queen of Swords is clarity without cruelty. She speaks of independence, sharp perception, clear boundaries and hard-won wisdom — she has seen things, and she sees through things. She does not need to be liked. When she appears, be honest, be discerning, and do not apologise for having standards.

Reversed

Reversed, the clarity turns cold. It marks bitterness, cruelty, isolation, or a mind so sharp it has cut everyone away. It can also be a woman wronged and still armed. Let the heart back into the room.

On the card

A queen sits in profile on a throne carved with a cherub and butterflies, a sword upright in one hand and the other raised as if to say 'speak'. Clouds gather below; her face is clear.

In love

An independent, honest partner who says what she means. Respect is the language here.

Coldness, bitterness from old wounds, or boundaries that have become walls.

At work

Clear judgement, fair criticism, a leader who cuts through nonsense. Be that person.

Harsh, unforgiving, or isolated at the top. Sharp is not the same as right.

As advice

See clearly and say so. You do not owe anyone a softer truth.

Ask whether the wall is protecting you or just keeping you alone.
