Upright

The Six of Cups is nostalgia and innocence. It speaks of childhood, memory, old friends, reunions and the simple kindness of giving something with no strings attached. It can point to someone from the past returning, or to a need to reconnect with what you loved before you learned to be careful.

Reversed

Reversed, the past has become a hiding place. It marks living in memory, naivety, an idealised version of what was, or a refusal to grow up. It can also mark the release of the past. Take what was good and bring it forward.

On the card

In a village courtyard, a child offers a cup filled with flowers to a smaller child. Four more cups stand nearby, each with a white flower, and a guard walks away in the background.

In love

An old flame, a sweet and simple connection, or a relationship built on kindness.

Stuck on an ex, or comparing the present to a past that was never that perfect.

At work

A return to something you loved, or a former colleague. Mentoring the young.

Clinging to how things used to be done. Let the past inform, not rule.

As advice

Be generous and playful. Remember who you were before you were tired.

Stop looking back. The good thing is not behind you.
